Your new City Council must in my opinion work on a number of things if Cornwall is to grow and prosper.

Here are but just a couple of my suggestions:

They must concentrate on the two waterfront gems that we have, namely Lamoureux and Guindon Park and both have a waterfront and lots of deep water. I believe the west end of both parks must be commercialized for tourism recreation and sport.

We have the canal, we have the fields, we have the open space, we have the river in two places begging us to be explored and developed.

These two areas can and must be developed as sport and recreation areas. In partnerships with the sport communities Guindon park can be known for so many types of competitive sport facilities and be the envy of Eastern Ontario for a sport and competition venues.

BMX bike trails, BMX bike course gravel and concrete, concrete skateboarding park, leisure bike trails, hiking, leisure walking trails, slacklining, jogging areas, x country skiing in winter. We currently have a snow boarding facility so why not have a sand boarding facility as well for the summer months.

I would also like to explore the west end of Guindon park that sits on the waterfront becoming a private commercial campsite as it is my understanding city services go right by the door making it much easier to develop.

The Civic Complex as it is called, but is a sport and convention center, could also entertain a rock climbing wall three floors high.

So much more, and all with partnerships from the sports and fitness community to keep cost under control.

Let’s get going !

Roland Besner
Cornwall City Council Candidate
