The Over and Above Challenge to local businesses in support of United Way/Centraide of Stormont Dundas & Glengarry is being spearheaded by the Lapointe family.Over and Above photo

The Lapointe family who own the Seaway GM and Seaway Hyundai Car Dealerships are donating $1,000 over and above their contributions last year to the United Way 2014 campaign. The family feel it’s a good investment to make to help people in our community. “Helping 16 agencies meet their programming needs is something that’s important to us and our corporate philosophy”, says Andre Lapointe, Owner of the Seaway GM dealership.

“This is a tremendously generous initiative”, says Nolan Quinn, United Way 2014 Campaign Chair. “Donors such as the Lapointe family are leaders in our Campaign each year. We are so thankful for the support they show to United Way and to all who are assisted through their generous donations. To contribute Over and Above their normal contributions is extremely thoughtful”.

“It’s all about doing what we can to help our region grow and meet the needs of our citizens throughout SDG. With this pledge we would like to challenge all other business owners to “step up” and help if they can”, continues Andre. “Giving a little bit more this year will help people to get what they need, or find assistance at one of the agency programs”, says Bev Lapointe, Owner of the Seaway Hyundai dealership. If you think it’s important to help where you can, business owners are encouraged to make the call and pledge to the “Over and Above Challenge”.
