Cornwall Ontario (CornwallColts.com) — The Cornwall Colts’ Grant Cooper scored 4:01 into overtime to beat the Kemptville 73s, 5-4 (OT).

Cornwall came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Colts trailed 2-0 after a goal by Kemptville’s Alex Row at 12:38 in the first period. Cornwall knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Cooper at 17:15 in the third period.

Cooper had two goals to lead the Colts to victory.

Cornwall forced the 73s goalie Jacob Tugnutt to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Colts cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances.

Cornwall additionally got points from Simon Besner, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cornwall included Peter Angelopoulos and Ryan Patulli, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Jay DAmour, Tristen Elie, and Nick Lalonde, who contributed one each and Ross Craig and Zac Tierney, who each chipped in two.

Kemptville kept Cornwall’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Nichol made 45 saves on 49 shots.

The 73s were led by Erik Brown, who grabbed three goals and one assist. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Dean Galasso, Cameron Russell, and Shawn Cameron, who contributed one each and Cody Hendsbee and Jason Tackett, who each chipped in two.

The Colts incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jacob Tugnutt made 26 saves for Kemptville on 31 shots. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
