Cornwall Colts HockeyCornawll Ontario (CornwallColts.com) — Denny Dubblestyne had a standout game with 26 saves, and the Cornwall Colts beat the Carleton Place Canadians 2-1.

Cornwall was sparked by Tanner Spink, who had one goal and one assist. Spink scored on the power play 18:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. The Colts had taken the advantage when Carleton Place’s Adam Lloyd got sent off for cross checking. Zac Tierney provided the assist.

Cornwall also got a goal from Tristen Elie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Grant Cooper and Peter Angelopoulos, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians’ offense operated below their season average. Carleton Place averages 3.8 goals per game.

The Canadians were led by Bryce VanHorn, who scored the team’s only goal. VanHorn scored on the power play 5:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Carleton Place had gotten the advantage when Cornwall’s Ryan Patulli was sent off for boarding. Wesley Baker assisted on the tally.

The Colts totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Cornwall, Cal Hofford was ejected from the game. Guillaume Therien rejected 19 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stephen Baylis was ejected from the game.
