On May 21st 2015, the Centre York Centre (CYC) hosted their inaugural “Social @ The Social: Professional Mix & Mingle” fundraising event. With over 75 tickets sold, strong support from local organizations and over $4,000 raised, the event was a huge success!
The Centre York Centre Supervised Access Centre is a non-profit organization providing a safe and secure setting where visits and exchanges can take place under the supervision of trained staff and volunteers. The Centre defends every child’s right to have access to parents and other family members without witnessing conflicts between parties.
“Our intent was to create a fun, informal event where professionals from various community agencies could come together to wind-down, enjoy some fabulous refreshments and promote awareness about their programs and services, all the while raising funds for the Centre York Centre Supervised Access programming.” says Elaine Gareau, former Chair of the CYC’s Board of Directors.
“We were very fortunate to have the support of local organizations in the community including the Children’s Aid Society who supplied the music, Ground Soap, Jackson Triggs and Counselling and Support Services of SD&G who offered up prizes and Scotiabank who matched $2,000 of funds raised – amazing!” says Farhana Meghji, Coordinator for the York Centre`s Cornwall location.
