Ajax Ontario — Baseball fans saw a preview of the Gold Medal game in tonight’s final preliminary round match at the Pan Am Games. Canada and the United States faced off against each other in Women’s Baseball. Both teams were tied for first, each sporting a perfect 3-0 record, going into tonight’s match.

Team Canada’s undefeated streak was finally snapped Friday night by the United States squad. Team USA finishes in first place with a perfect record of 4-0, while Team Canada finishes in second with a respectable 3-1 record.

The USA defeated Canada 3-1 tonight.

It was scoreless after three innings, but the United States offence exploded in the fourth inning bringing three runs home.

Canada scored their only run of the game in the 7th inning.

Cornwall’s Jenna Flannigan had her hit streak extended to four at the PanAm games. The Cornwall native got one hit tonight.

Earlier this week Canada defeated Cuba, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico.

On Sunday July 26th Jenna Flannigan and Team Canada are guaranteed to win a medal. The question is whether it will be silver or gold?

Team Canada will have to find a way to beat the United States if they want to take gold. The game starts at 12:05pm on Sunday.
