Cornwall Ontario — A fundraiser for a local girl who was diagnosed with cancer will take place tomorrow.

Laycey is a 5 year old girl who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. The good news is that her leukemia has a 90% cure rate. However with this type of cancer the longest treatment process could take up to 3 years.

Laycey is currently at the Ronald McDonald house in Ottawa and is hoping to return home shortly to be with her family. Her treatment is going to be 4 on 4 off in Ottawa. The family is still waiting to see if they are able to be covered for Laycey’s medication.

In order to relive some financial stress organizer Michelle Daniluck and other volunteers including the Last Stand Riding and Recreation Club are holding a fundraiser at Lola’s pub in Cornwall on Sunday May 1st. The fundraiser includes a bike ride leaving Lola’s at 10am, and a bottle drive starting at noon with BBQ and lots of raffle prizes to be won.

Money raised will be for any travel expenses and medication for Laycey.

“Being a beer store employee for the past few years I have seen a lot of success in bottle drives. It’s a simple and convenient way for people to donate”, says Daniluck.
