Foodfest 2018 was a great success and the organizers at Beyond 21 are no doubt pleased and grateful with the response.

I want to send the gratitude right back to them though. However much they gained – and I hope it was a lot, they gave so much more than they could possibly have received.

By 10 a.m. they had everything ready, volunteers in place, food trucks cooking and a street full of artists, crafters, musicians, dancers, small business entrepreneurs displaying their wares and services, and thanks to city crews, enough picnic benches on the sidewalks to turn Pitt Street into something between a city festival and a country fair.

Big thanks to Beyond 21 and their indomitable director Jane Maclaren. You turned Pitt Street into the place to be from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. and gave the city a chance to enjoy the best community meet-and-greet since last year’s Foodfest. Thanks for the party and thanks to all the individuals and groups that kept the people coming, the businesses hopping and the city entertained all day long.
