Changes to programs and services over Christmas holidays

Mayor, Council and City of Cornwall staff wish one and all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Please take note of the following changes to programs and services during the holiday season.

Municipal Offices

Municipal offices will be closed from Friday, December 21 at 4:30 p.m. to Wednesday, January 2 at 8:30 a.m. For any Municipal Works inquiry, the following phone line is monitored at all hours: 613-933-5354.

Cornwall Transit

There will be no bus service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Bus service ends at 6 PM on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Buses will be running on December 27, 28 and 29, 2018 and January 2, 2019. The Transit office will be closed on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (and open on Dec. 27 and 28, 2018 and January 2, 2019.

Aquatic Centre

The Aquatic Centre will be closed at 12 p.m. on December 24 and 31 and all day on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Centre will be open on Boxing Day for a 2 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. leisure swim.

Benson Centre & Civic Complex

The Benson Centre and Civic Complex will both be closed at 12 p.m. on December 24 and 31, and all day on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Civic Complex Box Office

The Cornwall Civic Complex Box Office will be closed at 4:30 pm on December 21 2018, and will re-open at 8:30 am on January 2, 2019. There are no events booked over the holidays, however, residents can purchased tickets for future events online at www.TicketPro.ca.

Garbage & Recycling

There will be no garbage and recycling collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Collection for those days will be pushed back one day, and for the remainder of the week. Should your garbage and recycling be missed during the City’s holiday closure, please fill out the form at cornwall.ca/missedcollection or call 613-936-6072 and provide your address and the type of missed collection.

The City Landfill will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Christmas tree collection takes place from January 7 to 11. Residents are asked to place their real trees at the curb on their regular collection day for pick up. Trees must be out prior to 7 a.m. in a shovelled-out area. Please note this collection is not for artificial trees.

Cornwall Public Library

The Cornwall Public Library will be closed on December 24, 25, 26 and January 1. Patrons can use the library on December 27, 28 and 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on December 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on December 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
