The Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall (TDCC) is very pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has decided to fund the Cornwall Arts and Culture Centre for $25,000 a year for 4 years, totalling $100,000.

“We are convinced that the Centre can have a significant beneficial effect on tourism in our area, in addition to being of tremendous significance to the development of our community” said Etienne Saint-Aubin, TDCC Chair.

The Arts Centre had applied for funding through the Tourism Development Fund application process. The application was reviewed by the Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors before coming to a final funding decision. Due to the significant impact the Centre can have on the community the Board agreed it would be beneficial to award beyond the normal funding threshold of $20,000.
Along with the substantial funding, the TDCC Board is also requesting that the City of Cornwall and the Arts Centre consider establishing an Arts and Culture Coordinator position, as part of its planning for the Centre.

“We consider establishing this position to be crucial to the Centre’s success, and for a healthy relationship with essential existing facilities such as Aultsville Theatre” added Saint-Aubin.
The TDCC hopes that this contribution will help the Centre to be up and running sooner and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact of the Centre on the City.
