In a unanimous vote, city council has reconsidered the motion to let the Optimist Club of Cornwall hold a modified, pandemic friendly, version of its biggest fundraiser of the year, Cornwall Ribfest, on city property.
Council had denied the proposal earlier in June, citing the fact that bringing outsiders to town would just be a blow to restaurants who have already suffered a great loss of business due to Covid-19.
After the initial vote, however, restaurants rallied around Ribfest and The Optimist Club of Cornwall to build a different event that encompasses 5 days of local eating, followed by 2 days of Ribbers: The Ribfest Community Cookout.
The motion was brought back to the table tonight and councillors unanimously voted to let Ribfest use the parking lot at the Civic Complex as the location of the drive through Ribber event.
