Parents/guardians and staff at Eamer’s Corners Public School received notification today of a COVID-19 outbreak at the school. An outbreak is declared when two or more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 and at least one of which is linked to possible transmission at the school.

At this time, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) has directed two classes to stay home on Monday, Nov.2 until they are contacted by the EOHU or the school and given further instructions.

The EOHU has determined that a school closure is not necessary.

The EOHU is in the process of directly contacting each of the families in these classes. Parents/guardians are being asked to check their email for more details. If parents/guardians do not receive a call from public health or the email from the school, please contact the school directly before sending your child to school on Monday, Nov.2.

The school and health unit are taking all necessary steps to prevent the further spread of the virus both in the school and in the community. If the situation changes and public health determines that a school closure is necessary, parents/guardians and staff will be contacted immediately.

The health unit encourages parents/guardians to continue to use the COVID-19 School Screening Tool prior to each school day, as well as regular public health recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Please know, testing for COVID-19 is not recommended, unless you are experiencing symptoms or have been directed to get tested by public health. If symptoms develop, immediately self-isolate, contact the health unit at and get tested at a local assessment centre.

The health unit and the school board do not release specific details about COVID-19 cases in our school directly to the public. You can find more information about confirmed cases our COVID-19 Advisory Information page, or on the Government of Ontario website.

Schools report confirmed COVID-19 cases to the provincial government and it is tracked on the provincial website. It can take up to 24 to 48 hours for the information to be posted, based on the timing of reporting.
