The Ontario government has announced that, effective April 30, 2021, the curated list model for online COVID-19 vaccine appointment booking will be decommissioned and replaced with the eligibility list model.  The eligibility list model will allow for individuals to book directly through the provincial booking system if they belong to one of the eligible groups.

Since mid-March, certain eligible groups within the EOHU region have been asked to pre-register using the EOHU online pre-registration tool. Pre-registrations have allowed the EOHU to submit client lists to the provincial booking system, enabling bookings. Such client list submissions will not be accepted into the provincial booking system after April 30, 2021.

Further direction will soon be provided to Public Health Units on how booking through curated lists will be replaced with the eligibility list model for online booking.

What this means for EOHU residents

The EOHU online pre-registration tool closes April 28 at noon. Anyone having pre-registered using the EOHU online pre-registration tool will be contacted to book an appointment or receive a personal code with which to book their appointments. Personal codes will be accepted by the provincial booking system until May 6.

Individuals having received their first dose and who pre-registered in order to book dose 2 ONLY, will receive instructions once more information is available to direct them to the provincial booking system.

Booking for Dose 2 ONLY

This move to the eligibility list model is essential to allow the provincial booking system to support dose 2 ONLY bookings. In accordance with the latest recommendations, those booking dose 2 ONLY on the provincial system, will be given an appointment for 16 weeks after their first dose.

Ongoing Collaboration

The EOHU appreciates that there is keen interest in receiving the vaccine. We ask the public to please help us keep the online tools and phone lines available for those who are eligible to book an appointment. Cooperation from the public will go a long way to help ensure local vaccination clinics can operate efficiently and effectively.

It remains extremely important to continue following public health precautions – even if you have received the vaccine – until a large majority of residents in our region have been vaccinated.

For the latest updates about COVID-19 vaccines, including which population groups are eligible to receive it and how to access it, please regularly visit the Eastern Ontario Health Unit’s website at www.EOHU.ca/vaccines.
