United Way/Centraide SDG is calling for the community to come together and donate menstrual
hygiene products from March 7 – 22

Cornwall, Ontario (March 7, 2022) – The United Way Centraide SDG (UWC SDG) is bringing
back Tampon Tuesday for the second year. In 2021, the first-ever campaign in the region
received 300+ product donations that were distributed to five local agencies: Agape, Akwesasne
Healing Centre, Baldwin House, Naomi House, and Sexual Assault Support Services Stormont,
Dundas, Glengarry & Akwesasne.

This year, the UWC SDG hopes to make the campaign even bigger to support more local
organizations and people who have been impacted by the rising cost of living across our
communities. On Tuesday, March 22, it’s hosting a stuff the bus with menstrual hygiene product
donations courtesy of Cornwall Transit. The bus will be parked at the Shoppers Drug Mart on
Brookdale from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“We’re getting so many calls every day from people who are struggling to keep up with the cost
of living. So many are having to choose between paying their bills or buying food. Menstrual
hygiene products are a necessary monthly expense many simply cannot afford right now. We
hope donations received from Tampon Tuesday will help give people access to safe products
without having to sacrifice other expenses,” – said Juliette Labossière, UWC SDG Executive
Director.

This initiative is part of a larger effort across Canada to push for donations of menstrual hygiene
products for shelters, food banks, and other organizations around International Women’s Day to
ensure that people have access to these products in times of need.
