You need to pack all sizes and shapes of items when moving home from one place to another. These may include delicate glassware and musical instruments to bulky sofas and tables. You may want to carry all of them to the new location because of the affinity or money factor. No matter what, all the stuff requires proper packing for safe transport. The material has to be easy to use and efficient in protecting your belongings. You want to spend only part of the day on this single activity. So, it must make your packing task quick too. Reputable moving companies vouch for a plastic wrap for this purpose.

The moving companies in Vaughan generally use plastic wraps to cover your belongings, such as furniture, books, and appliances. If you hire them for full support for transfer, you will not have to think about packing supplies. In the other scenario, you will want to select the plastic material that is most suitable for your needs. So, here are some insights.

Plastic wrap varieties

You primarily get two options in plastic wraps – blown and cast. These can further offer you more choices in size, colour, gauge, and handle or no handle. Each of them serves specific needs. So, it is better to acclimatize yourself with them. The small or large stretch wrap has varying widths of 5-inch to 22-inch. Each roll can be up to 1500 ft long. You would need large plastic for furniture and bulky stuff – some suggest that 20 inches can be the preferred choice. For smaller ones, a roll of 10-inch width can be okay. As for thickness, you would want to buy a higher gauge wrap for maximum safety. So, you can be better off with 80 gauge than 60 gauge.

Likewise, you have to take a call between cast or pre-stretched and blown material. The first option tends to be light and can fit smoothly on both sides of the objects without requiring much plastic. However, a blown stretch sheet can be a good option for heavy loads for its durability. Then, you get this supply in coloured and clear formats. Since coloured films can ruin your clothes and furniture, you can stick to clear plastic wraps. During the summer, the sun and high temperatures can cause the film to melt. Hence, it’s safer to go with the clear ones.

Another feature of this packing supply can be the convenience of use provided by the handle design. The main challenge is stretch wraps with handles may need to be wider. You can rely on them for small objects. The large rolls without handles can be 18-20 inches wide. Due to this, you can use them for bulky things like household appliances and furniture.

How much of this supply will suit your packing demand? Ideally, 5” x 1000’ and 15” x 1500’ (one roll each) can be sufficient for packing items for one bedroom apartment. For two bedrooms, you may want to get one roll each of 20″ x 1000′ and 10” x 1000’. If you wish to save on your local store visit time, consider buying two large-size plastic wrap rolls. It’s more critical if you have plenty of items to pack.

Points to remember when wrapping the items for a move

The best highlight of plastic films is their flexibility. These allow you to hold items together. You can cover the cabinet with its drawers and doors attached while securing any hose, cord, or electronic cable attached to it. If you wrap everything well, you don’t have to worry about damage. You can use blankets as an extra layer to protect your furniture by wrapping them around each piece. Do you have a rug, also? Roll it in a plastic wrap tightly for smooth storage in the truck.

However, before doing anything, ensure all the items, including furniture, are dry and clean. They should not have any dirt or dust particles as these can damage their polish or finish. Suppose you wish to carry drawers and shelves. Empty and disassemble them safely. Please start with the oversize product by tucking one corner of the wrap securely and moving the roll around it. Small objects will not be a concern. You can pack them quickly. If you notice any exposed furniture ends, cover them with cardboard pieces or pads to protect doors and walls from getting ruined.

Moving to a new house or location is a lot of work. You can feel the stress even if everything happens as per the timeline. You can relieve some of your responsibilities involved in relocation by talking to a local moving agency for assistance for a reasonable fee. You can utilize your saved energy and time in some other essential areas. However, remember to compare their services and rates. Some agencies charge only reasonable pricing from their customers.
