Every year Seeker Chick Julia and Seeker Chick Mai-Liis attend the Seaway Valley Theatre Company musical and tonight would have been the night but as the Seeker Team had many events to attend we were not able to have our annual “Date Night” which starts off with a nice supper at a local restaurant and then we head out to Aultsville Hall to enjoy the musical delight.
Luckily Carol Sauve had attended the opening night and sent us this “Seeker Snapshot – a clip from our community”.
“The hills were definitely alive in the City of Cornwall last night (February 17th) as Seaway Valley Theatre Company presented their first performance of The Sound of Music! The Cast, Creative Team, Crew, and everyone involved are to be commended for their incredible talent. Under the direction of Corey Disotell (and Director’s Mentor Lacie Petrynka), the audience embraced the beautiful vocals of Maria and Captain Georg von Trapp (played by Stéphanie Charette and Frank Burelle) all the while rejoicing at the Von Trapp children played by some incredible young talent. The Orchestra was brilliant and the melodies from the Nuns is especially noteworthy. The Sound of Music runs until February 25th with selected show times so be sure to check them out on Facebook or their website at www.svtc.ca/“.
A little bit more info:
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, The Sound of Music has won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows a cheerful aspiring nun who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
If you haven’t already seen this great musical there are still a couple of shows left tomorrow (24th) and Saturday (25th) so call 613-933-3998 to see if there are any tickets still available.
