TORONTO, May 10, 2024 /CNW/ – Tim Hortons is delighted to announce that this year’s Smile Cookie campaign raised an impressive $18.8 million, benefiting over 600 charities and community groups in Canada and the United States. This remarkable achievement highlights the power of community support and the dedication of everyone involved.
A Collective Effort for a Great Cause
“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to every Tims guest who supported our annual Smile Cookie campaign this year. Through your generosity and support, we’re collectively making a big impact for more than 600 charities and community groups,” said Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons.
Schwan also expressed his gratitude to the Tim Hortons restaurant owners, their team members, and volunteers who hand-decorated millions of Smile Cookies over the course of the seven-day campaign. “A lot of hard work went into raising such an incredible amount through Smile Cookies this year and it takes a dedicated team to make it happen!”
A Longstanding Tradition of Giving
The Smile Cookie campaign began in 1996, initially raising funds to support Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since its inception, this annual charitable event has raised over $129 million for various charities and community groups. Each year, Tim Hortons restaurant owners select the recipients, which include local hospitals, community care organizations, food banks, and schools.
Standout Achievements
Among the notable achievements this year, Rhonda Pardy and Greg Crisanti, Tim Hortons restaurant owners in Dauphin, Manitoba, sold over 43,500 Smile Cookies in just seven days. With a population of just over 8,000, this equates to about five Smile Cookies per resident. The proceeds from their sales are being donated to the Smilezone Foundation.
In the coming weeks, Tim Hortons restaurant owners will be presenting their charity partners with Smile Cookie cheques, marking the tangible impact of this community-driven initiative.
