BP Rage Room (CNW Group/Boston Pizza International Inc.)

In an innovative move to console heartbroken hockey fans, Boston Pizza has introduced a “Rage Room” at its Scarborough Town Centre location. This unique setup is designed to help fans vent their frustrations following another year without a Canadian team winning the Stanley Cup. The last victory dates back to 1993, when Montreal Canadiens claimed the championship. One man’s loss is another man’s treasure?

The “BP Rage Room” is equipped with various tools allowing fans to safely express their emotions by smashing objects, breaking items, or even shedding tears. This initiative comes in the wake of another playoff season that has left Canadian hockey enthusiasts disappointed. The event is scheduled to take place on May 5, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on May 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., inviting all Canadians aged 16 and older, with minors requiring an accompanying adult.

Peter Blackwell, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Boston Pizza International, emphasizes the unifying spirit of the event. “Hockey is Canada’s game, and while regular season rivalries are intense, the playoffs are a time to unite for the greater Canadian cause,” he states. The Rage Room not only offers an outlet for emotional release but also aims to refocus fan energy towards a united goal of bringing the championship back to Canada.

To further foster unity among fans, Boston Pizza has also rolled out a special playoff menu featuring a variety of drinks and shareable dishes designed to cater to diverse palates and preferences, thereby bridging gaps between fans of rival teams.

This initiative by Boston Pizza is more than just a venue for emotional release—it’s a community-building effort that seeks to strengthen bonds among Canadian hockey fans, encouraging them to set aside their differences and collectively hope for Canadian success in the international hockey arena.
