Proactive Measures for Traffic Management During CBSA Strike at Seaway International Bridge

In light of the ongoing strike affecting the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), The Seaway International Bridge Corporation (SIBC) has announced a series of traffic management measures to ensure the smooth and safe movement of vehicles across the Seaway International Bridge. With a focus on mitigating potential congestion and maintaining efficiency, SIBC is dedicated to proactive steps to manage traffic flow during this period.

To address the anticipated bottlenecks at the CBSA entrance, SIBC will dedicate the center toll booth lane exclusively to domestic traffic during peak congestion times. This strategic move is designed to allow domestic vehicles to bypass the congested areas, thereby reducing delays and improving the overall traffic situation on the bridge.

“Our primary concern is the safety and efficiency of traffic across the Seaway International Bridge,” said Marc Chénier, Bridge Director of SIBC. “By dedicating the center toll booth lane to domestic traffic during peak congestion periods, we aim to minimize disruption and maintain smooth operations.”

In addition to lane dedication, SIBC’s maintenance staff will be actively directing traffic to ensure safety and efficiency on the bridge. The toll staff will have the authority to open the center toll booth lane as needed, coordinating traffic flow to best manage the evolving situation.

Emergency vehicles will continue to have priority access to the center toll lane, ensuring that critical services are not impeded during the strike.

SIBC remains committed to providing a safe and efficient crossing for all travelers and will closely monitor the situation. The corporation appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation during this time.
