Cornwall’s Youth for Climate Action Unveils Inspiring New Video
Cornwall, ON — Students from Cornwall’s Youth for Climate Action Working Group (YFCA) have launched a powerful and inspiring video, recorded and edited by Jeremy Baxter, to promote environmental consciousness and sustainable practices among the city’s youth.
The video features several notable YFCA members, including recent graduates Dolev Klein Harari and Anita Bedi, who are now studying at Queen’s University in Kingston, and current leaders like Abdul Rahman Khan, Yasmine Reda and Haeley Njihia from Holy Trinity, and Sharon Ilori from La Citadelle.
The YFCA, supported by organizations such as the Raisin Region Conservation Authority, Transition Cornwall+, and the City’s Environment and Climate Change Committee, aims to foster a zero-carbon, climate-resilient Cornwall. Their mission is to empower young people to voice their opinions on climate issues, influence city responses to climate changes, and mobilize the community towards sustainable practices.
“We want to give young people a platform to make a difference,” says Angela Parker, the City of Cornwall’s Sustainability Project Coordinator. “Our goal is to encourage the youth of Cornwall to take responsibility for their actions and work collectively towards a sustainable future.”
The video serves as a call to action for all youth in Cornwall to join the movement towards a greener and more sustainable community. YFCA encourages young individuals to get involved, share their ideas, and take active steps in combating climate change.
