Established in 1974, a small group of sport shooters and police officers started the Cornwall Handgun Club. Settled in a large swatch of land off the Route 138.

In the secluded area 10 KM north of Cornwall. The club is a ‘not-for-profit’ range, somewhat unique in Ontario. The range property is owned and operated by the club. The club is inspected and approved by the Chief Firearms Office. The range has many range safety officers trained in all aspects of firearm safety.

The club is private with strict rules and regulations, with safety as the main concern. The club does not permit any high-powered rifles or shotguns. All members are strictly screened and take a Firearm Safety course. Along with having a Canadian-issued and verified by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Possession and Acquisition License (PAL). Along with the Police checks and references that you listed. You also need to attend and complete the Safety Training Requirements.

The club has a 15 & 50-meter range with a covered shoot house. Two 25-meter Action Shooting Ranges and a 50 & 100 Meter Rifle range with a covered shoot house. The club hosts various events such as the .22 caliber shoots, Club Level Action Shooting, IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) Club Level bulls-eye shooting, and Black Powder events scheduled throughout the year. As a service to qualified and trained hunters, the club provides supervised “Hunter Sight in” days, open to the general public. And sponsors Local Military Cadet events.

The club is also supportive of our Police Services, the Ontario Provincial Police, Cornwall Police Services, and the RCMP train and perfect their marksmanship and safety of firearms at the club. This saves the Ontario taxpayer many millions of dollars a year and contributes to making our wonderful police services more effective and safer in the handling of firearms.

Club members are highly trained, serious law-abiding contributors to society, where safety is the number 1 goal. As a note: No firearms or ammunition is stored at the club. For more information check out the following websites.
