Kim Yaroshevskaya, Icon of Canadian Children’s Entertainment, Passes Away at 101

Kim Yaroshevskaya, a Russian-born Canadian actress renowned for her roles in Quebec children’s television, passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 101.

Born on October 1, 1923, in Moscow, she emigrated to Quebec at age ten.

She became a beloved figure through her performances in series such as “Fanfreluche” and “Passe-Partout” during the 1970s. Her career also included a starring role in the English Canadian drama series “Home Fires” in the early 1980s. In addition to her acting, Yaroshevskaya was a storyteller and author, publishing several works of children’s literature. Her contributions to Canadian culture were recognized when she was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1991. She celebrated her 100th birthday on October 1, 2023.

Her passing marks the end of a significant era in Canadian children’s entertainment.
