AROUND THE COUNTIES WITH SYLVIE. On July 5, the Cornwall Multisport Club hosted a free CMC Kids' Day at Lamoureux Park, welcoming young runners up to 16 years old for a fun-filled morning of racing and community spirit. Participants competed in the following age categories: Ages 6 and under: 600 m Ages 7–9: 1.25 km Ages 10–12: 2.5 km Ages 13–16: 3.75 km Before the first race, children took part in an energetic warm-up session to get ready for the day. Throughout the event, club members ran alongside the 54 participants, helping them learn the importance of pacing—a valuable skill for improving running performance at any age. The youngest runners delighted spectators as they eagerly lined up at the start and dashed off on 22 pairs of little legs, making their families proud. The remaining three age groups competed simultaneously, completing one, two, or three laps of the course according to their race distance. Every participant was rewarded with a repurposed St. Lawrence Marathon medal and a gift bag of treats in recognition of their accomplishment. The Régimbal Group, a family-owned and operated Ottawa company specializing in promotional products for events, also donated commemorative water bottles to celebrate its 100th anniversary, adding a special keepsake to the day.
