United Way Centraide Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (UWC SDG) is hosting its 12th and final Holiday Gala, the Wine & Gourmet Tastings, on Saturday, November 23 at the Cornwall Civic Complex. This year’s event is presented by Pommier Jewellers, a locally owned and operated jewellery store, and organized by a volunteer gala committee led by Karen and Ray Brunet.

“2024 will be our final Holiday Gala,” said Juliette Labossière, Executive Director of United Way Centraide SDG. “As an organization, we have been shifting our priorities and resources over the past few years to meet some of our communities’ toughest needs – homelessness, housing, hunger, poverty, and mental health – and have had to make some very difficult decisions about our legacy projects and events. We thank all of the sponsors, volunteers, donors, staff and attendees who helped us raise over $500,000 from this event alone in just over a decade. Your dedication to our local communities and our small United Way means so much to us. We hope you’ll continue to work with us.”

This final Holiday Gala promises to be an unforgettable evening with live entertainment from The Chesterfields, gourmet food prepared by Tauro, top-shelf libations, a raffle by Pommier Jewellers, and a live auction. All with the goal to raise money to help us improve lives and meet our communites’ needs here in Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Cornwall, and Akwesasne.

“Ray and I have been honored to work with our tireless local United Way and with our compassionate gala committee at this event. The love and support for our community over the past 12 years have been boundless. We especially thank our long-time sponsors and new sponsors for their ongoing support. We’re leaving this legacy event on a high note with an evening like no other, and we can’t wait for many to join us on November 23rd,” said Karen and Ray Brunet, Gala Committee Co-Chairs

Last year, the fundraiser broke records for its 11th year, raising $90,000 (net). All money raised stays local and supports United Way Centraide SDG’s critical work in poverty reduction while also helping it invest in 12 local agencies and 15 programs that are tackling the complex issue of poverty on several fronts, including housing, food security, and mental health.

There are two ticket options for the final year. The VIP Dinner is $250 per ticket or $2000 for a table of 8 (tickets are extremely limited) or you can join the party after dinner to enjoy a live performance from the Chesterfields, hors d’oeuvres, and show off your best moves on the dance floor for $150.

Tickets are now on sale. Visit www.holidaygala.ca or call the United Way office 613-932-2051.
