FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – January 21 – A 33-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 20, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with prohibition regarding children. It is alleged on Jan. 9, 2026, the man was bound by a prohibition order with the relevant condition to not have any contact with a person under the age of 16, with specific exceptions. It is further alleged on this date, the man was left unsupervised in the presence of a child under the age of 16. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a Cornwall Police Service officer developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Jan. 20, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 26, 2026.

Cornwall, ON – January 21 – A 41-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 20, 2026, and charged with mischief under $5,000. It is alleged on Jan. 15, 2026, the man caused damage to property at a healthcare facility. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Jan. 20, 2026, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 4, 2026.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – January 21 – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 20, 2026, and charged with breach of recognizance and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on Jan. 20, 2026, the youth was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged the youth threatened to kill another student. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was subsequently released to appear in court at a later date.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 59 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8 a.m. yesterday to 8 a.m. today).

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – January 23 – A 52-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 22, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Dec. 18, 2025, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to reside with his surety at a specific address and to remain in the residence at all times. It is further alleged the man breached the conditions of his release order. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Jan. 22, 2026, the man attended Cornwall Police Service headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – January 23 – A 25-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 22, 2026, and charged with assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle as well as domestic mischief. On Jan. 17, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man choked his girlfriend and punched a hole in the wall. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Jan. 22, 2026, CPS officers responded to an intimate partner violence call and subsequently located the man. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 17, 2026.
