AROUND THE COUNTIES WITH SYLVIE.It’s June 24th and I am at the 2026 Aging Well: The Senior Health & Safety Fair at the Benson Centre. This popular event is on until 4 p.m. so don’t delay!Outside in front of the entrance sits the Cornwall SDG Paramedic Services “Funbulance,” a retired ambulance turned into a colourful celebration of local paramedics. Upon entering the building you can expect to be greeted by a volunteer who will hand you a pamphlet listing all the participating booths. When you visit the booths, you get someone to check off its name on the pamphlet. The more booths you visit, the more chances you have of winning a door prize. You also get to choose for which prizes you want to apply your ballots.The information at the booths focuses on the aging community showcasing services for seniors and their caregivers, community organizations, and upcoming events. There is a buffet strategically placed at the end of the hall, an opportunity to refuel before visiting the other half of the booths. Oh! And did I mention, there is lots of free stuff? It is well worth your time.I spent nearly two hours there, but I still did not get to visit everyone. I did, however, gain valuable information and got a sneak peak at upcoming events I hope to attend. If you are still sitting at home, it’s time to start the car! See less
