The organization is committed to working with its partner agencies to provide support, collaboration and partnerships.
“The investment into our community is always our priority in order to ensure that your donations have a significant and lasting impact in our SDG community” said Lori Greer, United Way of SD&G Executive Director. United Way is committed to improving lives and strengthening our local community by working together with many local agencies. The wholly local organization is in the process of investing in vital social programs which improve lives for thousands of local SDG residents.
“We are extremely grateful to each and every person who contributed to our Community Campaign – we are able to invest and support change in our community because of our donors”, stated Bill Makinson, 2016 Campaign Chair. “Just over $630,000 was raised for our 2016 community campaign. Your donations support programs offered by local agencies which improves lives in our community all year long.”
“Donations are vital all year long, so we gladly accept contributions all year long”, said Greer. “We are thrilled to outline our priorities, community investment and super hero good news stories on our newly refreshed website. One initiative outlined in the strategic plan was the creation of a Spring-time signature event, the inaugural “Handbags for Heroes” taking place on April 27, 2017. The organization is pleased with the success of being able to announce that the evening is already sold out thanks to the support of local businesses, organizations and guests.
United Way is also embarking on an initiative to ensure it is achieving its goal of providing significant community impact through its work. In the coming months, United Way will be seeking input from various members of the SDG community in order assess our area’s most pressing needs. The goal is to address the underlying causes of social problems in order to effect long-term changes that can be sustained over time and make a measurable difference in the community. Information on Community Impact will be available in coming weeks.
