SVTC’s play “Chapter Two” kicks off the 2019-2020 season

The Seaway Valley Theatre Company invites you to the first production of their 2019-2020 season, Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical romantic comedy, “Chapter Two.”

Manhattan, 1978. Recently widowed writer George Schneider is encouraged by his younger brother, Leo, to start  dating again, but sinks deeper into despair after a series of bad matches. Leo then finds Jennie Malone, on the
rebound herself but a keeper. Still, it’s a bumpy ride for these not-so-young lovers, stumbling to overcome their hesitation and emotional neediness, while Leo ends up having a fling with Jennie’s neurotic (and married) friend, Faye.

Making his directorial début is longtime SVTC member, Matt Latimer, who has cast four of Cornwall’s finest stage actors in the production: Paul Aubin as Leo, Alison Latimer as Jennie, Krystal Taillon as Faye, and Kerry Walker as Leo. Producing the show are Allison Main and SVTC president, Lise Richer.

“Chapter Two” will be staged at École secondaire publique L’Héritage, 1111 Montreal Road, Cornwall, on October 4, 5, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19 at 7:30 pm. A matinée will also be performed on Sunday, October 6 at 1:30 pm. Of particular note is the October 17th performance, which will be a special fundraising event for the Be the Link/Soyez le Lien campaign. All proceeds will be donated by the SVTC to fund the building of Downtown Cornwall’s new arts and culture centre. To learn more about this initiative, visit www.bethelink.net.

Tickets are $20.00 and are available in advance online at svtc.theticketwicket.ca. They can also be bought in person or by phone at the office of the Alzheimer Society of Cornwall and District, Time Square, Cornwall, 613-932-4914, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Tickets may also be bought at the door from one hour before curtain time. All seats are general admission and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
