The conference is being held on November 13-14, 2019 at the NAV CENTRE in Cornwall, and this year’s event promises to be the best yet!
With three regional local food tours, a delicious local food tasting reception, and a full day of conference programming to inspire and motivate you, this is an event not to be missed. Program and registration details are available on the conference website: www.eastontlocalfood.ca. With a theme of “Growing Communities Together”, the conference will explore exciting local food initiatives in the region. The program features prominent entrepreneurs, municipalities, and organizations; all creating opportunity in local food.
The conference is being organized by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in partnership with the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry (SDG).
“The Eastern Ontario Local Food Conference is a must-attend event for anyone who shares our mission to grow Ontario’s agri-food sector and support rural communities,” said Ernie Hardeman, Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Mayor Bernadette Clément, of the City of Cornwall, is looking forward to welcoming visitors to the area. “This conference offers a unique opportunity to explore our economic opportunities and community connections through the lens of the food system,” she said.
Jamie MacDonald, Warden for SDG, agrees. “Our area has a thriving and innovative agri-food sector,” he says. “Having the chance to share our ideas and successes with others will benefit the whole region.”
