In collaboration with Julia and Mai-Liis at the Seeker, I am involved in a new project called Community Action Talks.

Meet Keri of Monarch Way

Things are already rough economically, environmentally and politically and things will get worse. How much I don’t know but I’m seeing too many indications of major instability to feel comfortable with a “let’s see how it goes” attitude. I think we need to get proactive and prepare.

On a global scale the problems are immensely complex and I am paying attention to that and writing about what I’m seeing and thinking. But locally, I think our community needs to come together – irrespective of political and ideological viewpoints – to discuss issues that are already happening and to plan for what happens if the society we know stops supporting us or collapses.

Part of this discussion is to take an honest look at what’s going on.

Part is to brainstorm potential solutions and work arounds from conventional and unconventional perspectives.

Part is to take action.

This first event(s) starts as an online discussion and forum. In the future, as possible, we would like to move these discussions to in-person meetings at a public venue.

This first online meeting will include an introduction to the idea of community action talks and then start a discussion on local healthcare with some information on what resources exist now.

If there is enough interest we would continue to discuss things that are or will affect us negatively: food costs, poverty, rising energy costs, lack of reasonably priced housing, schooling, elder care, child care, government grants and how to access them etc. These are big topics so we are not limiting discussion to 1 discussion per issue.

We are completely open to questions and suggestions for topics and guest speakers so please feel free to send them in here or on the Seeker FB page before the events and during the events.

We can provide the “forum” with some speakers etc but in order for this to really work for our community we need you to participate.

Please join Julia, Mai-Liis and me on November 10,2022 starting at 7pm here: https://fb.me/e/2my3bOmIS
