St. Albert Ontario had a well water advisory after the fire that devastated the local cheese factory.

The water advisory for St-Albert Residents has been lifted by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU). A new precautionary advisory has been issued to a smaller area: Principale Street between South Nation River and east of Genier Street (excluding Genier Street), Hébert Street, and St. Paul Street from Principale Street up to 200 metres south of the cheese plant.

Residents in this zone should use bottled water or an alternative until further notice (for everything from drinking, to making ice cubes or juice, food preparation, brushing teeth, etc…). The water may safely be used to bathe, shower, wash dishes, or laundry.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit is working with the Ministry of the Environment, The Nation Municipality and emergency personnel to monitor the situation. Water in the zone above will continue to be sampled and analyzed throughout the weekend. In the meantime, the Drinking Water Advisory for the above zone will remain in effect until further notice.

For more information, contact The Nation Municipality at 613-764-5444, ext. 222.
