Cornwall Ontario — It was a successful meeting at Cornwall’s City Hall as far as the Citizen’s Coalition was concerned. The proposal they presented to City Council got full support. Concerned Citizen’s Coalition member Josh Welsh shares his opinions on what transpired Monday night.

“I think this is a huge step going forward – we wanted this from the get-go, to have Council’s support, but that doesn’t mean we have this yet – at least they have agreed to look into it and to report back to our group. I think it’s very important that the Hospital stays because it can and will affect all the current and future citizens of Cornwall. I think it’s important that the youth get involved because they will need to be involved for their health care at some point in their life – whether it be now, or later, or whether it will affect themselves or their family, it will have some sort of impact and the more facilities we have for the health care the better. The end result is only time will tell. If the Council reports back with a positive message, then we will have done a great job and we keep moving forward. If not – we still keep moving forward. I think we will not stop until we come to some sort of consensus or conclusion for all this”.

According to Welsh, the next steps for the Coalition would be the creation of a Board of Directors, and to focus on the Task Force that was formed.
