Found Skeletal Remains Update

Cornwall, ON- On Wednesday, January 9th, 2013, shortly 2:30 pm, the Cornwall Community Police Service were called to a residence in 300 block of Alice Street, Cornwall in relation to skeletal remains that had been discovered by the Fire Department. Police and the Coroner were called to the location and following an initial examination the bones were determined to be human.

The remains were sent for a forensic examination at which time they have identified to be an elderly-man’s remains that passed away from a natural cause months prior to the discovery. The investigation into this matter is completed. No foul play was suspected.

PUBLIC NOTICE- MINIVAN UPDATE

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service completed the investigation regarding a suspicious incident involving an older model black minivan in the east end of Cornwall. It was alleged that on March 7th, 2013 shortly after 1:15 p.m. police received information of a suspicious minivan in the east end of Cornwall. Police attended, canvassed the area with negative results and no reports of missing person were received. Police determined the matter to be unfounded.

The Cornwall Community Police Service encourages parents to educate their children about strangers and safety. The Cornwall Community Police Service would also ask that any suspicious activity be reported to police immediately.

WARRANT

Robert Boisvert, 44 of Kingston was arrested on March 7th, 2013 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that he failed to attend court on February 12th, 2013 and a bench warrant was issued. He turned himself in to police and was held in custody until court later that day.

WEAPON

Cornwall, ON- A 15-year-old and 17-year-old youth, both from Cornwall, were arrested on March 7th, 2013. It is alleged that they were found to be in the possession of prohibited weapon being brass knuckles while at school. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. Both youth’s were charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and released to adults to appear in court on May 2nd, 2013. The youth’s names were not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREAK & ENTER, THEFT & MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON- A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 7th, 2013. The youth was bound by a Recognizance with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that between March 6th and 7th, 2013 the youth unlawfully entered her parents residence, caused damage and removed property. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The youth was charged with Fail to Comply with Recognizance, Break & Enter to commit Theft, Mischief under $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property. The youth was held in custody until court the following day. The youth’s name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
