Cornwall.ca — Residents are invited to celebrate Canada’s birthday with a full slate of activities and entertainment in Lamoureux Park.
The waterfront park will once again serve as the venue for Cornwall’s annual Canada Day celebrations on Monday, July 1st, and there will be a wide variety of free events to entertain residents of all ages.
The festivities will be highlighted by a colourful fireworks display to close out the evening, beginning at approximately 10 pm. In addition, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will fly over the City around 12 pm in celebration of the nation’s birthday.
Children’s activities will begin at 12 pm and will include shows by Little Ray’s Reptiles, the Magical Rebecca Show, Junkyard Rock Band, face painting, Bouncy City and Castles and much more. The children’s activities will run until 6 pm.
There will also be a free swim at the Aquatic Centre from 2 pm to 3:25 pm, sponsored by City Council. The swim is open on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Elsewhere in Lamoureux Park, residents can stop by the Bingo tent, which will be open from 10 am to 9 pm, or enjoy some food from a variety of vendors who will be set up for the day and evening.
As always, there will be a continuous flow of live music from the Lion’s Club Bandshell as a large line-up of local artists take the stage and share their talents.
The bandshell entertainment will kick off with opening ceremonies at 12 pm and will continue until 9:45 pm with performances by (in order) Beat Central Dance Company, Philippe St. Arnaud (with special guest), Flowdroidz, Candy’s Dance, Elly May, Blues Express, Alison Wonderland and Switchgear.
