4 win over the River Kings on Friday night. At one point, Cornwall led the game 4-0.

The River Kings got off to a quick start, taking it to the Vikings early in the first period. Defenceman Dave Reid scored 37 seconds into the contest. Patrick Lapostolle and Anthony Pittarelli, with a shorthanded effort, also scored for Cornwall, which led 3-0 after the first.

Adam Wensink gave the River Kings a 4-0 lead at 5:59 of the second but Trois-Rivières took over from there. Maxime Gravel and Michael Bélanger cut the lead in half before the second frame was over. At 1:42 of the third, the Vikings made it a one-goal game on a tally by Alexandre Parent. Benjamin Casavant’s power play marker at 8:30 of the third evened the score.

After a shaky start for Trois-Rivières, newly acquired goaltender Marco Cousineau recovered to earn the victory in goal. He made 28 saves.

Loic Lacasse and Matthew Murphy split the goaltending duties for Cornwall. Lacasse stopped all 24 shots he faced, while Murphy was tagged with the loss.

Cornwall’s final two exhibition games are next weekend with a home-and-home vs. the expansion Valleyfield Braves. Friday night, the teams face off in Valleyfied (8 p.m.) and the following night, the River Kings host the Braves (7:30 p.m.).
