HabitatmediareleaseRob Csernyik is a young entrepreneur who grew up in Nova Scotia and has called Montreal home for a period of time. Recently, he made the move to Cornwall and is opening a new business located in the Downtown core.

Since graduating from University, Mr. Csernyik has worked for major home decor stores in Montreal including Pier 1 Imports and Zone Maison. He has never been satisfied working for someone else and has always wanted to open his own store.

“I saw a great opportunity here in Cornwall several years ago,” said Mr. Csernyik. “I have always kept Cornwall in mind when working on my plan and finally, here I am on the verge of opening day. I chose Cornwall because I appreciate the city’s commitment to nurturing small businesses and I look forward to being an active member of this community.”

Located in beautifully-renovated space at 11 Second Street West (next to the Seaway building), Habitat specializes in home decor, featuring a mix of familiar and new-to-market brands. The store focuses on home decor, but also features a selection of kitchenware, jewellery and accessories. As someone who enjoys entertaining, decor was important to Mr. Csernyik.

“I really put a lot of thought into the name and found that Habitat was versatile and covered all four key styles that we carry – modern, global, bohemian and traditional. I have made an effort to carry one-of-a-kind products for every taste and for every budget, offering good value for the dollar.”

“Habitat is a great addition to the Downtown core,” said Candy Pollard, Business Consultant with the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre. “With another retailer added to the mix of businesses, our Downtown is really becoming quite a vibrant shopping district. We wish Mr. Csernyik the best of luck with his new venture, and welcome him to the Cornwall business community.”
Habitat will have its grand opening on Saturday, December 7th from 12 pm to 8 pm, and the first 25 people who visit the store will receive a $10 gift certificate. Mr. Csernyik said he plans to remain open seven days a week during the holiday season: Mon to Fri 10am to 6pm (Thurs til 8pm) and Sat & Sun 12 Noon to 6pm.
