countieslogoThe Counties, Ontario – The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG), and Cornwall and the Counties Tourism are partnering together on a networking session for local festivals and events in the region. This will be the first time local groups have been brought together to learn new ideas about growing their community event. The SDG Festival and Event Summit will be held on Saturday, April 26 at Rothwell-Osnabruck Secondary School in Ingleside.

“As we speak with local festivals and events in our community, many are facing the same challenges,” said Warden Eric Duncan. “At the same time, we were surprised that there wasn’t more interaction and networking opportunities to address these problems collaboratively. There are a lot of ways events can work together and learn each other’s best practices and we hope this is a great first step,” added Warden Duncan.

The event will feature four sessions on common issues involving local festivals and events: recruiting and retaining volunteers, revenue sources, event insurance, and social media and websites. A networking lunch and open forum will also be held.

“Most of the local festivals and events in our region rely on volunteers to make them happen, so we are trying to provide them with support to make their events successful,” said Linda Wilson, Executive Director of Cornwall and the Counties Tourism.

Registration is $20 per person, including lunch and refreshments throughout the day. The event will run from 8:30am to 2:00pm and is open to the public.

Tickets can be purchased online at https://sdgfestivalandeventssummit.eventbrite.ca.
