POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Casual Toll Attendant collects bridge tolls.  This involves the classification of vehicles, the verification of passes, the processing of payments and the issuance of receipts. Casual toll attendants are also responsible for monitoring camera views.  Casual Toll Attendants can be assigned to various day, evening, night, week-end and holiday shifts, within a 24/7 operation. Work is restrictive for long periods within the confines of a toll booth. The employee will be exposed to all types of weather conditions.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Experience in cash handling
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Experience in interpreting and applying policies and procedures
  • Experience in using computerized systems. Previous experience using a toll collection system is an asset
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and provide change
  • Ability to visually inspect vehicles to determine the type and classification
  • Ability to handle a high volume of transactions quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions, including weather extremes,  vehicle exhaust fumes and sometimes demanding motorists
  • Ability to work for extended periods while standing up and using repetitive arm motions
  • Ability to work all schedules within a 24/7 operation (day, evening, night and weekends)
