Five members of Cornwall SDG Emergency Medical Services – Chief Myles Cassidy, Michel Lefebvre, Patricia Lanctot, Kathy Panchuk and Mario Phoenix – received the medals in recognition of having completed 20 years of exemplary service in their field.

An initiative of the Governor General’s office, the Exemplary Service Medals exist to recognize the men and women dedicated to preserving Canada’s public safety through long and outstanding service.

“Our service responds to thousands of calls each year, and our highly-trained paramedics go to work each day prepared to meet the unexpected. They respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, disaster scenes and many other unforeseen situations,” said Chief Cassidy. “It’s nice to be recognized for our role in preserving public safety.”
