Four days of free activities planned for National Child Day

Cornwall Ontario (Cornwall.ca) – Local families can take advantage of four days of free activities for children as part of this year’s National Child Day celebrations in Cornwall.

National Child Day is on Thursday, November 20th, and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of celebrations here in Cornwall, organizers have set up a four-day schedule of events with free activities at various community facilities.

The fun kicks off on Thursday, November 20th and continues through Sunday, November 23rd. Some of the free events include public skating at the Benson Centre, swimming at the Aquatic Centre, bowling at Olympia Bowl, and concerts and other festivities at the Cornwall Armoury.

Cornwall Transit Bus

Cornwall Transit will be offering free bus rides throughout the four-day event to all children (ages 0 to 18) and adults who are accompanied by a child. On Sunday, November 23rd, Cornwall Transit will be running a free shuttle to the Aquatic Centre, Olympia Bowl and Cornwall Armoury, with various stops along the way. The shuttle will run from 11:55 am to 8 pm.

Free Colts game for childrenhockey-civiccomplex
In keeping with the spirit of the event, the Cornwall Colts will be offering free admission for children to Thursday night’s game against the Brockville Braves at the Civic Complex. Parents who are accompanying children can attend for a special admission price of $5.65.

Special offers from businesses
A number of local restaurants will be offering special offers on meals for National Child Day. Participating businesses include A&W, Dairy Queen, Domino’s, Harvey’s and Pizza Hut.

Thursday, November 20th
9 am – 11 am – Various activities with ECE students at Ontario Early Years Centre, 550 Ninth Street East (Ages 0 to 6)
3:30 pm – 5 pm – Skating (Ice Pad 3), Benson Centre, 800 Seventh Street East
5 pm – Opening ceremonies (Children’s charter of rights), Benson Center, 800 Seventh Street East
7 pm – 8:30 pm – Swimming, Aquatic Centre, 100 Water Street East
7:30 pm – Colts game (Parents $5.65 accompanied by child), Civic Complex, 100 Water Street East

Friday, November 21st
4 pm – 6 pm – Skating, Civic Complex, 100 Water Street East
4 pm – 7 pm – Indoor skateboarding, 917 Second Street West
7 pm – 8:30 pm – Swimming, Aquatic Centre, 100 Water Street East

Saturday, November 22nd
1 pm – 5 pm – Rock climbing, Cornwall Armoury, 505 Fourth Street East (Ages 10 to 18)
2pm – 3 pm – Concert by Mader Crew, Cornwall Armoury, 505 Fourth Street East (Ages 10 to 18)
1 pm – 5 pm – Mini trains exhibition, Cornwall Armoury, 505 Fourth Street East
1 pm – 5 pm – Mini race car circuit, Cornwall Armoury, 505 Fourth Street East
2 pm – 4 pm – Skating (Pad 3), Benson Centre, 800 Seventh Street West
3 pm – 5 pm – Swimming, Nav Centre, 1950 Montreal Road
