The River Kings have made an initial donation of $2,500 to the Salvation Army. The LNAH team is challenging other local businesses to match or donate what they can.

On Saturday night, when the River Kings host the Thetford-Mines Isothermic, the Salvation Army will be on hand for a ceremonial puck drop. In addition, the Salvation Army band will perform the national anthem.

Two kettles will be displayed at the game on Saturday. Action begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Complex.

The Salvation Army provides food to more than 300 families per month. The Breakfast & Lunch Bag Program operates in two local elementary schools. The Salvation Amry has also once again partnered with Children’s Christmas Fund to supply baskets to as many local families as possible.

Other kettles will be placed at seven locations around town From Nov. 24 to Dec. 4: Walmart, Food Basics (Brookdale), Baxtrom’s Independent Grocer, Farmboy, Frescho, No Frills and Food Basics (Second St.).
