Welcome to “Our Cornwall”

Blind loyalty to our politicians remains Cornwall’s biggest undoing!copy 46 - Untitled Page(2)

Turning a blind eye to the truth in favour of maintaining a positive image of the person or cause may seem loyal at first, but is ultimately dangerous since silence is a form of collusion!

I appeal to all Cornwallites to take everything uttered by a politician and journalist with a pinch of salt! Anyone who blindly follows a politician, political party or influential person has given up their god given right to exercise their free thought processes. They degrade their own worth.

If we are to solve the major issues that have stunted Cornwall’s growth, tarnished our reputation and seen us export most our most talented youth then we will need innovative independent thinkers from all walks of life.

Leadership should be geared towards making a positive difference in the lives of the masses! Leslie O’Shaugnessy’s speech during Cornwall City Council’s swearing in was the return to the essence of true leadership and common sense. His election to office is a step towards returning power to the farmer, carpenter, teacher, law enforcement officer and away from the ivy league or elite in our city. It was truly inspirational. “If an old boys club existed yesterday, it’s gone as of today!” (referring to city hall) declared O’Shaughnessy during Cornwall’s swearing in ceremony monday night.

Our council has become more diversified in age, experience, beliefs and even though a few may be involved for their own self-aggrandizement the hope and prayers of our blue-collared heritage is with them!

Now it’s your turn to get involved Cornwall! Go to council meetings, watch them on Cogeco, follow what’s happening by reading multiple sources and articles, educate yourself, debate the issues in our Gossip City forum (Politely as true Cornwallite’s should…..with drink in hand, horrible grammar, using an acronym and most of all….with passion!!!!) and PLEASE volunteer for one of our many committee’s which provides recommendations to council on various topics of interest! Be the change you want to see.

Gossip City is here to remind council and Cornwall of its past. Remembering our history can ensure we do not repeat our mistakes and remind us of how we benefited from previous actions or decisions.

Welcome and enjoy the added comedy provided from our meme’s and our comments! This article carried a more serious tone as our introductory story but all in all we look to inspire and brighten your day when discussing municipal politics!

…….Ohh and please enjoy the enormous amount of table pounding exclamation marks!
