juliathumbI love summer. It’s my favourite season of the year. I love the colours, the blue skies, the luscious greens, the flowery reds… I also love all the stuff happening. It is as though this city comes to life in the summer time.

There are a few interesting events coming up in May and I want to talk about a few of them that you may not have heard of.

May 1st and 2nd – Cornwall Comedy Festival

For the second year, and for two nights this year, the Cornwall Comedy Festival will come to the Aultsville theater with Bowser and Blue on the 1st and Derek Seguin & Friends on the 2nd. Tickets are only $25 per night and can be purchased at the Cornwall and Counties Tourism Office.

May 1st – Art Battle

Join 12 local artists for an exciting night of live competitive painting. They will go head-to-head for the chance to win the title of Art Battle Champion, cash prize and a spot at the Regional Finals in June 2015. This is happening at the Social at 7pm. May 1st to 9th (select days) – SVTC’s Maggie’s getting married

In this touching romantic comedy, you’ll join the Duncan family as they prepare for the wedding of their daughter. It is the night before the big day, and Maggie’s older sister discovers that she knows the groom a little better than Maggie would like her to. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Civic Complex Box Office 100 Water St E, Cornwall, ON, by phone at (613) 938-9400, or online at www.admission.com.

May 2nd – Fantasy Realm FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

As the name implies, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops.

May 15-16 – Organized Chaos by Alyssa Blais

You are invited to attend Alyssa Blais’ (yes, the Agape Center Director and past city council runner) first art exhibit “Organized Chaos” mixed media art Friday 6pm to 9pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm www.alyssablais.ca The event will be hosted by Artist Joan Levy Earle, 812 Pitt Street Unit #41 (behind the Health Nut Store) There is a lot more happening.
