Cornwall Ontario – Focus Art is holding a juried exhibition of local art at the Cornwall Square this month.

The show features 123 pieces of art from over 50 local artists from Cornwall and area.

“We have held a juried exhibition each year for the past decade,” says Louise Mignault of Focus Art. “It is a great opportunity for the public to see the diversity of art on display.”

Focus Art has brought in Ann Gruchy to judge the show. Ms. Gruchy is an award-winning Ottawa-area artist who has served as juror for many art groups. She paints in acrylic, oil and watercolour and is known for her minimalist landscapes as well as her large, bold non-representational works.

“The judge will award a first and second prize in each category, as well as an honourable mention,” says Ms. Mignault. “At the same time, each artist will receive a critique of their art, which can be very valuable as they pursue their craft.”

The award winning art will be announced at the Vernissage on Friday October 21 (6:30pm to 8:30pm) at the pop-up gallery located on the second floor of the Cornwall Square.  Public are welcome to attend.

“Cornwall Square is happy to partner with the local arts community to showcase the incredible talent we have locally,” says Karen Burns, Retail Manager with Cornwall Square. “The art show is a favourite with our shoppers.”

Visitors to the pop-up art gallery will also have a chance to purchase a raffle ticket for a painting from Kathleen Morin.

All of the artwork on display will be available for purchase after the show. The show runs from October 20th to 30th at Cornwall Square on select days: Thursday and Friday 11-7, Saturday 10-5, and Sunday 11-4.
