The Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre, the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, and the Community Futures Development Corporation are once again partnering to bring the Bridges to Better Business event to Cornwall to celebrate Small Business Month in Ontario. The event is a dynamic, event filled half-day of small business focused workshops, a luncheon, and guest speaker. This year there is a strong focus on bringing contemporary issues to the table.

The keynote speaker for the event is National Chairman of AmCham Canada, Rick Tachuk. Tachuk is “the voice of cross-border business” and will provide a timely insight into tariff, trade and border issues, including NAFTA.

“Last year we took a survey to see what changes we could implement to improve the event and we’re really using those results to tailor the experience this time around,” reports My Community Futures Executive Director Michael MacGillivray. “We see that business owners had specific issues they wanted addressed and our workshops at this year’s Bridges event are going to tackle these topics directly. We’ve got a good variety so that everyone will be able to gain insight on issues their business faces and directly implement this knowledge into their operations.”

Beyond the keynote there are a powerhouse lineup of speakers for the event. Topics include: cyber-security, how to prevent theft, succession planning and employment law. “This is a great opportunity for any small business to gain insight from industry leaders and network their business. Consider this event an investment in your business,” states Candy Pollard from the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.

Bridges is focused on the Cornwall area’s small business sector. “The strength of our community lies in our passionate and varied small business sector,” says Chamber Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “The lineup of speakers this year are really impressive and will tackle issues that are facing our local business owners. I feel that the timeliness of the topics this year is going to have a noticeable impact on business in our community.”

Bridges to Better Business will be held at the Ramada Inn & Conference Centre on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available. For details, contact Chamber Executive Manager Lezlie Strasser at 613-933-4004.

Tickets are available at www.cornwallchamber.com.
