Smash Hit Musical “Mamma Mia!” comes to Cornwall

Dig out your bell bottoms and platform shes for the biggest entertainment event of the season! The Seaway Valley Theatre Company invites you to the major musical production of their 2019-2020 season, the worldwide smash hit, “Mamma Mia!”

A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget. On the eve of her wedding, a young woman’s quest to discover her birth father’s identity brings three men from her mother’s past back to the Greek island paradise they last visited twenty years ago. The story-telling magic of ABBA’s music takes you on a journey of love, laughter, and friendship, creating a hilarious and unforgettable show full of energy, explosive dance numbers, and the songs you love. “Mamma Mia!” has been seen and loved by millions around the world.

Director Lesley Ellam once again is at the helm of this year’s musical. With past triumphs such as “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” and “Chicago” on her resumé, rest assureed that you’re in fr a top notch theatre experience. Also, SVTC President Lise Richer and marketing committee chair Christiane Taylor (AKA The French Connection) are back as co-producers of the show. Choreographers Amy Malyon, Mélanie Samis, Lesley Ellam, and Laura Ellam will dazzle and delight you with the dance sequences they’ve devised for the show. And making her début as musical director is Elizabeth Caddell. With the help of longtime conductor Brian McCartney, she’ll lead an orchestra of some of Cornwall’s finest musicians.

“Mamma Mia!” will be staged at the Aultsville Theatre, 2 St. Lawrence Drive, Cornwall, on February 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 pm. Tow matinées will also be performed on Sunday, February 16 and Monday, February 17 (Family Day) both at 1:30pm.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for students, and $20 for children under 12. (All acmission prices include a $1.00 Aultsville capital refurbishment fee.) They are available in advance online at svtc.theticketwicket.ca and can also be bought in person or by phone at the office of the Alzheimer Society of Cornwall and District, Time Square, Cornwall, 613-932-4914. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. They will also be available at the door from one hour before each performance. All seats are assigned and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

We strongly recommend that you buy tickets in advance and get them early to avoid disappointment.
