A few weeks ago, Seeker Chicks, Julia and Mai-Liis were very happy to have 2 of the members of The White Knucklerz RC, Laurie-Jade Robinson (Jade) and Bertha Collette (Skippy) as guests on our “MONDAY MORNING MOTIVATION” Show to discuss what the Club does and also talk about their upcoming ride TOMORROW, AUGUST 8th. (the questions here are what we asked them on the show – please take some time and check out the show on The Seeker Facebook Page – Thank you ladies for joining us and we wish you all the best at your BIG EVENT on August 8th and we hope that Little Jersey loves her “WOW” Item!

1 – What exactly is the Knucklerz RC and when did the group start up?

The White Knucklerz RC is a motorcycle riding club who sponsors children with Life Threatening illnesses.

2 – How did you come up with that name for the group?

When you ride a motorcycle and hold onto the handlebars, your knuckles tend to turn white, so that is where the name came from!

3 – Pre-Covid we saw you at many, many events making awareness of what you do (in fact you have been at many of our Seeker events and Laurie-Jade, you were a speaker at one of our Women’s Day Shows). What is the mission of your club?

Our mission is to Raise Awareness for children who have Life Threatening illnesses. We all know adults who have some kind of illness, but we don’t realize how many children in the S, D & G area who are truly sick. The illnesses of the children are not seen on the outside.

4 – How many local children wave you helped with easing their treatment so far?

We have sponsored over 20 children up to date.

5: With Covid I know you have had to pivot with your fundraising and I know you had a great facebook live where lady members of the club shaved their heads and men shaved their beards and moustaches to raise money for a little girl called Jersey who you are sponsoring at the moment. Can you tell us a bit about Jersey and why you shaved for her.

Amazing news … we just got word on July 28th that Jersey got to “Ring the Bell”

This year we are sponsoring ‘ Jersey ‘. She is a sweet 6 year old who has Wilms’ Tumor ( Kidney Cancer ). She lost one of her kidneys in January 2020 and has been going through chemo and radiation for the past 6 months. She was loosing patches of her hair so she bravely came to the conclusion to shave her head. We have not been able to have or be at any events to represent Jersey so we did a Virtual LIVE – online FaceBook ‘Just for Jersey’ Shave. We can choose to have our hair, Jersey could not. We fundraise to raise money to purchase that big “WOW” item that each child gets to choose and our wish is that this item will make going through treatment and dealing with their illness a bit easier.

6 – Your yearly event was almost cancelled this year because of Covid but you got great news about a week ago that you were given the Green light to go ahead with it. Can you tell us all about this event and what Covid precautions are you taking to make it safe for everyone taking part.

This year our annual event will have COVID-19 precautions in place. Everyone who signs up for the ride with Jersey will receive a COVID care package which will consist of a mask , pair of gloves and a personal pen. Also anyone from the community who wants to come to the Raffle Draws and Silent Auction will also receive a care package. NO One can enter the building without a mask. You don’t need a motorcycle or fancy vehicle to be a part of Our event on August 8th. We are inviting Everyone to come join us … and meet Jersey and our Guest Celebrity, Cornwall’s very own Joe Bowman!

7 – How many club members do you have? At the moment with Covid things may be a bit different but where do you meet and do you have organized rides?

We currently have 13 members. If anyone would like to become a member, the number 1 condition is – You must be dedicated to representing ALL the children who we sponsor. We are not just about wearing a patch or riding a motorcycle.

8 – If someone wants to join the White Knucklerz RC where can people go to get more information?

If you would like to inquire about how to become a member, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 613-870-0917 please check out our website https://whiteknucklerzrc.wordpress.com https://whiteknucklerzclub.wordpress.com Our FaceBook for the children page is Larry White Knucklerz RC , White Knucklerz RC for Local Sick Children
