Employment Planning for the New Normal

Join the Employability Network of the Social Development Council of Cornwall and Area and its partners as they prepare you to return to work in our new normal. You will have the opportunity to join a virtual session in french or in english to learn about how our local service providers can help you re-enter the workforce. “Local Employment Service Providers are available to help support job seekers secure employment and assist in maintaining employment during and after the pandemic. Job Zone d’emploi is pleased to be working with these local service providers to support the Social Development Council’s virtual event.” Kim Arbic, Director of Community Relations at Job Zone d’emploi.

Also hear from local employers and the measures they are taking to ensure their workplaces are safe for their employees and customers. “For Hood Packaging, having a safe and clean work environment for our employees is always at the forefront. The Hood family has mandated this in all the companies that they own. We are proud of the fact that over the last several years the Cornwall Plant has been recognized for the Safety efforts of all our employees.” Richard Beaulieu, Plant Superintendent of the Cornwall Facility.

Also joining our panel is the Eastern Ontario Health Unit that will share with us the necessary safety precautions employers must put in place to be safely open for their employees. 

The French session is taking place on Thursday May 13th at 1:30pm. Our panelists are Vanessa Constant from Glengarry Interagency Group, Caroline Kuate from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, Richard Beaulieu from Hood Packaging and Sandra Marleau from Olymel. The English session will be on Friday May 14th at 10:30am. Our panelists are Kim Arbic from Job Zone d’emploi, Robin MacSweyn from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, Nicole Bissonnette from Biscuits Leclerc Ltd. and Cherie Dollard from Formax Plastics Inc. At the end of each session a prize will be drawn for all those who participated. Attendees will have the chance to win a $500.00 Visa thanks to our sponsors: Social and Housing Services department – City of Cornwall, Eastern Ontario Training Board and Job Zone d’emploi. 

The Employability Network is a working group of the Social Development Council of Cornwall and area. The Employability Network (EN) consists of members from several community agencies and institutions representing a cross-section of social, economic, educational and training sectors in SDG, Akwesasne and Cornwall. The EN’s goal is to focus on bridging the gap to obtaining gainful and sustainable employment for the unemployed or underemployed individuals and families in our community.
