One of the biggest trends in home remodels and updates this year is the modernized home office. Everyone learned during 2020 how essential a space at home to get work accomplished could be. All too often, people found themselves trying to work out of their kitchens or living rooms while sharing a space with others who were also on lockdown. It made for some hilarious television, but it was an inconvenient situation for everyone involved. Updating your home office or adding one means looking at all the new trends. Home office blinds are one of the many necessities to consider.

Work from home offices are one of the top things that home buyers are looking for as well, and if you are giving your home an update, one of the ways to do that is to ensure all the details are covered. Details can come down to something as simple as window treatments. Things like window blinds are seen from both the outside and the inside of the home. So, if you want to ensure that you get the right buyer’s attention when you’re putting your house on the market, make sure that you’ve got these details under control.

However, window treatments aren’t just for those looking for resale value or helping catch a buyer’s attention. They can also really add to the functionality of a home. Depending on where your office is located, the sun can make it challenging to work unless you have high-quality window treatments that block or filter the light.

The sun can be a significant distraction, reflecting off computer screens so you can’t see. With video meetings becoming a consistent part of everyone’s lives these days, consistent lighting can be critical for having a productive Zoom call. Investing in good blinds from Stores Selects Canada can help control the natural light, reducing glare and ensuring you always have the ideal lighting for work or meetings.

So even if you’re updating only for personal use, window treatments can be a necessary addition. Office blinds are something you want to make sure you include in your remodel budget.

Keeping up with the Trends

Home design is an art form all of its own. There are multiple professions dedicated to getting a home to look just right. In part, because of that, we’ve come a long way in window treatments, even in the last ten or fifteen years. You used to have only a few options, from the cheap, quickly destroyable plastic blinds to poorly sewn puffy valances. Thankfully, those things are in the past, and now opportunities are abundant for keeping it trendy and functional.

The 2021 trends include lots of colors. As everyone knows, the last couple of years have been tricky for most of us. This trend seems to reflect a new sense of hope amid people and, as we come slowly out of the pandemic, a reemergence of fondness for style.

Bright Colors and Stained Wood

One daring example that could brighten up a work-from-home office space enjoying popularity this year is brightly colored Venetian blinds.  Venetian blinds have been around for a while, but you can find them in a variety of colors and materials this year. For example, you can add a massive splash of color with home office blinds in pink stained wood. Bright color pops like this work exceptionally well in rooms that are filled with deep rich toned office furniture.

The Chameleon Effect

If you’re redesigning your home office from top to bottom, another fashionable way to go this year is to go with a look that blends smoothly. White or light gray is particularly popular.

If all the furniture is in white, adding white blinds helps to make it a cohesive style choice. One of the popular types of blinds for this style is the roller blind. They are easy to use and allow for the use of most of the windows when installed. They also are thinner than a more traditional blind, making them blend in even more.

Roman Blinds Re-emergence

Roman blinds are a great alternative to more traditional office blinds. Suppose you’re going for that old-fashioned library look, or you want to add some rich fabric to the room without having to deal with the bulk and care that curtains require. In that case, these are a fantastic choice.

Roman blinds have a very luxurious feel, especially when you choose a fabric that suits the room. To get that library feel, think about something heavy like a damask but modernize it in a fresh color like teal and gold.

Roman blinds can also be found in lightweight fabric, so if cottage-core is more your style, you can still go with this curtain alternative.

Pops With Pattern

Roller blinds are coming in more patterns now than they ever have. For years everyone thought that home offices should be like work offices, a little dull and bland, not so much anymore. Now that we’re shifting to more people working from home even after the vaccine, people want to add a bit of themselves to their new home office.

One way to do this through is through the type of office blinds you choose. Roller blinds can be fun. They’ve come a long way in the patterns and prints that they come in; everything from a starry night print roller blind to beautiful floral designs is available.

Patterns that Repeat and Intricate Patterns

Intricate patterns can be overwhelming in some spaces. Most often, this happens because they are busy bold, and draw most of the attention in the room. However, one of the fun current trends is getting those very complex detailed patterns but printed light on light fabric. It opens the design and makes the pattern an asset rather than a distraction.

Another way to bring some interest to the room is with softer repeating patterns like leaves or shapes. This is a way to bring in some color without it being overwhelming. The repeating style means that it’s not too busy. This year large patterns are prevalent in things like botanicals.

Regardless of which direction you go, there has never been more justification for updating your home office. And one of the simplest yet most effective updates you can do is simply adding high-quality home office blinds.
