There is an innate satisfaction when you know that you have personally prepared something and people seem to enjoy it. Whether that chore may be art-related, cooking, or preparing some aroma-rich beverage, that tiny bit of euphoria pushes you to master the craft. If you are a budding home barista, this article may work perfectly for you as we give you guidelines to learn the art of coffee brewing.

Of course, having coffee beans is the first thing you should secure. By this, we do not mean the coffee grounds you can find in department stores. Grab a bag of quality whole beans and make sure that it is better to be freshly roasted. It may be hard to find freshly roasted beans, so keep in mind that the peak flavor of coffee is at least two weeks from its roast date. Also, make sure to purchase the amount of coffee you can consume within the prescribed date on the packaging.

Ready your brewing gear

You may have seen coffee shops or cafes using various coffee gadgets ranging from coffee grinders to espresso machines. There is a lot of neat equipment that you can choose from, and Sip Coffee House may be of help, for they offer excellent comparable reviews between coffee makers, accessories, grinders, and more. The website also includes several brewing tips and barista tricks you can copy once you pass the beginner stage.

The Methods

For a beginner, there are a couple of methods that you can skillfully learn. These are the following:

  • Pour Over/ Drip Method – This is one of the oldest and simplest ways to brew coffee. You only need to use a coffee cone and a paper filter. You pour hot water into the coffee grounds on the paper filter and wait for the coffee to drip slowly into a cup, pot, or flask.
  • French Press Method– The French Press method is one of the best methods to extract superior flavor from the coffee grounds. All you need to do is soak the coffee into the press pot and let it steep before straining it in hot water.
  • Percolate– This one uses a stovetop style of brewing coffee. You need to put the coffee grounds on the perforated filter at the top part of the pot, then pour water into the reservoir at the bottom of the stovetop kettle. Once the water boils, the steam pressure works its way to the coffee grounds up to the brewed coffee that rests on the higher chamber of the kettle.
  • AeroPress– AeroPressing is a relatively new brewing method where you pour hot water into the brew chamber where the coffee ground rests. Next, you let it steep or immerse, after which you use a plunger to press down the steeped coffee grounds passing through a filter and into the cup.

Final Thoughts

There may still be methods of brewing that will surface as time passes. Hopefully, we have given you a few nifty choices that you can practice later on when you are lounging in the comfort of your home.
